Safety Subcommittee

Mandate:
The mandate of the National Airlines Council of Canada's Safety Subcommittee is to support the shared goal of maintaining world-class safety standards of NACC member airlines, and to help address shared aviation safety interests. This includes supporting continuous improvement under the evolving Safety Management System (SMS) framework.

Responsibilities
Specifically, the NACC Safety Subcommittee will support member airlines through:

  • The development of recommendations for safety-related NACC policies, positions and strategies
  • Collaboration on safety-related interests, issues and concerns that relate to the Canadian and global aviation industry environment
  • Representing NACC to Transport Canada and other regulatory agencies and industry bodies on safety issues
  • To review existing and future legislation related to airline safety matters for their effectiveness and impact on member airlines
  • The sharing of best practices that will support aviation safety goals
  • Monitoring of national and international developments in the area of aviation safety
  • The promotion of NACC member airlines high safety standards
  • Working in partnership with other NACC subcommittees and providing strategic guidance on safety matters
